The Arabic word “Zyara” means “visit” in English. The Zyara documentary series takes an innovative, deeply personal approach to storytelling with a view to nurturing collective social and emotional healing.

In “Zyara to Yemen,” the series explores the unseen consequences of the war in Yemen. Through candid encounters, it paints poetic portraits of four Yemenis refugees living in Oman, including a human rights lawyer and activist, a restaurant worker, a martial arts champion, and a businessman. By telling their stories and celebrating the resilient spirit of the Yemeni people, the Zyara project seeks to raise awareness and preserve truth and memory.

For the first time in nine years, the Zyara team has traveled outside of Lebanon, in search of stories from Yemen. Zyara to Yemen was created in partnership with the International Center for Transitional Justice, which works across society and borders to challenge the causes and address the consequences of massive human rights violations.

تغوص سلسلة “زيارة إلى اليمن” في التّداعيات الخفيّة المترتّبة عن الحرب في اليمن. وترسم، من خلال اللّقاءات العفويّة، صورًا شعريّة لوجوه أربعة لاجئين يمنيين يعيشون في عمان، هم ناشطة ومحامية في مجال حقوق الإنسان، وعامل في مطعم، وبطل في الفنون القتاليّة، ورجل أعمال. فيسرد مشروع “زيارة” قصصهم ويحتفل بروح الشّعب اليمنيّ الصّامدة، ويسعى، بذلك، إلى تحسين التّوعية وصون الحقيقة والذّاكرة.
للمرّة الأولى منذ تسع سنوات، سافر فريق زيارة إلى خارج لبنان، بحثًا عن قصصٍ من اليمن. أبصر مشروع “زيارة إلى اليمن” النّور بفضل شراكةٍ مع المركز الدّولي للعدالة الانتقاليّة الّذي يعمل، عبر المجتمعات والحدود، في سبيل التّصدّي لأسباب الانتهاكات الجسيمة لحقوق الإنسان ومعالجة عواقبها.
